Community Conservation International (CCI) will quantify and identify suitable public lands in Alameda County to convert from impervious to pervious cover, and retrofit them to seasonal retention/filtration areas for urban/stormwater runoff—while achieving additional public benefits such as open space. As has been demonstrated in other California communities, including Los Angeles, such lands can act as natural pollutant filters and treatment areas, while meeting needs for parks, playing fields, and wildlife habitat.
